E.Gilbert
talks about what made her take the leap and go through this incredible
journey to explore pleasure in Italy, meditation in India and to learn
how to balance the two in Indonesia.
Her
decision to ask for divorce was the turning point in her life. A life,
she felt was not hers, neither was that perfect house she owned, nor
that perfect husband with whom she was no longer in love. But how can
she admit to failure ? The straight A student, the successful
journalist, the modern independent woman, well it’s while crying on a
bathroom floor that she finally makes up her mind to start her search
for inner peace and ultimately her search for God.
a
few months later, after a fierce divorce and a complicated “re-bound”
relationship, E.Gilbert was given the opportunity to finance her planned
trip across the three countries by her editor in order to have this
book at the end of it.
Eat,
Pray, Love breathes honesty, that’s what struck me the most. the author
truly shared a very personal experience. She underwent so many
emotional moments and reported faithfully each one of them.
E.Gilbert
really has a way of affecting us, we relay to her pain and sufferance
and we end up wanting to hold her hand and tell her that everything is
going to be ok for her and that now the worst is far behind.
I
greatly enjoyed this book, the writing style is neat and efficient, we
go through the chapters with no boredom, rocked by the sweet power of
the words that feel so carefully chosen.
It is definitely one of the best English books i’ve ever come across !
